2019 Skoda Karoq Scout and Sportline broaden SUV range… The Skoda Karoq Scout has been revealed, boasting tougher looks and off-road equipment including standard four-wheel drive. It will join the Octavia and Kodiaq Scout, which both get similar features and a rough terrain package to ensure they can head competently offroad. If you’d rather stick to tarmac, it has been joined by the Karoq SportLine with a racier appearance.
You’ll be able to spot a Karoq Scout thanks to chrome and silver-painted trim, wheelarch cladding and 19-inch ‘Crater’ alloy wheels. Rear privacy glass and plenty of Scout logos complete the exterior makeover, while the interior is set apart with seat covers embellished with black and brown contrasting seams and embroidered Scout lettering. Standard kit also includes a leather multifunction steering wheel, alloy pedals and ambient LED lighting.
The SportLine trades the rugged trim of the Scout for sporty, body-coloured bumpers and wheelarches and blacked out trim, door mirrors and roof rails. SportLine logos are emblazoned on the front fenders and 18-inch alloys can be upgraded to 19-inch ‘Vega’ wheels as an option. Seats and the steering wheel are black with contrasting silver stitching and a new three-ply breathable Thermoflux fabric is said to make travelling more comfortable, especially in the summer months. A Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster is also included for both versions, allowing the driver to choose between classic gauges or views prioritising maps, media, telephony or trip information. The SportLine version gets a fifth view, with the rev counter and speed moved to the centre of the display. Connected technology can create a Wi-Fi hotspot in the car and allow you to check on the Karoq remotely via a smartphone app.
The Scout and SportLine models will be offered with the Karoq’s 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine in two- and four-wheel-drive, with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, while a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission is optional. Upgrade to the 188bhp TDI version and a DSG ‘box becomes standard, with no manual available. Both of the engines fitted with four-wheel-drive feature an off-road setting that can be chosen from the Karoq’s driving mode selector.
Both of these new versions of the Karoq will be on display for the first time at the Paris motor show in October and will arrive in UK showrooms before the end of the year.
