South coast-based The MX5 Restorer has received so much positive feedback from the one-off mk1 Speedster that Total MX-5 drove back in issue 5, that the company has decided to put it into ‘production’ on a bespoke basis.
Сustomers can have the conversion – which evokes the look and spirit of Mazda’s M Speedster concept from 1996 – carried out on their own mk1 or The MX5 Restorer can source it for them. And from that point on anything goes in terms of colour, trim, suspension, wheels, brakes, etc. The same applies under the bonnet where you can head down the turbocharging, supercharging or V6 swap routes, depending on your desires and budget. Or perhaps just leave the engine standard.
When we drove the Speedster it was tremendous fun and a real attention grabber. And at the time of writing, that car was for sale on The MX5 Restorer’s website for £15,000.
