Set to become the crowning model in this prestige performance carmaker’s line-up, the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera will, according to the firm, offer the best of both GT and supercar worlds. Built on the DB11’s lightweight aluminium architecture, along with its forged double-wishbone front and multilink rear suspension, the DBS mounts a 5,2-litre biturbo V12 engine that sends drive aft via an eight-speed ZF auto ‘box. Delivering 533 kW and 900 N.m, the Superleggera is good for 0-100 km/h in 3,4 seconds and a 340 km/h (limited) top speed.

ASTON’S ABBREVIATION UNPACKED
Aston’s new halo model reunites two illustrious names in motoring. Named after former owner of Aston Martin, David Brown, the “DB”’ prefix was attached to such icons as the DB4, DB5 and DB6.
The “S” suffix is a nod to the iconic Italian coachbuilder Carozzeria Touring Superleggera, which was responsible for designing a number of shapely Ferrari and Alfa Romeo models. Brown entrusted the design of a GT model to replace the ageing DB2 to Carozzeria.
