Italdesign celebrates 50 years with €40k prize. Founded on 13 February 1968, Italdesign is celebrating its 50th anniversary by launching a design competition for under- 35s with a €40,000 prize.
Italdesign was the brainchild of Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani. “In the last 50 years Italdesign has featured many technological milestones and was also responsible for famous design masterpieces,” said its president, Dr Bernd Martens.
One year ago, Italdesign started a new chapter as a car producer. With its new Automobili Speciali brand, it now produces ultra-limited special editions such as the Zerouno (pictured).
Its new competition has a ‘Future Mobility in Cities’ theme and is open to people aged between 18 and 35. The jury is looking for solutions for future mobility in urban areas, as well as developing countries. Registrations can be made at www.italdesign.it between 1 March and 1 April, with the deadline for projects 31 August. The winners will be announced in December 2018 and receive prizes totalling €40,000.
