It’s not often that you hear of a concept car coming back from the dead, not least one from the mid ’60s, but that is exactly what new outfit ADO Auto hopes to achieve with its new Coupé model that made its debut in December.
Related to a BMC Mini based sports car concept touted to replace both the Austin-Healey Sprite and MG Midget in 1964, the new Coupé looks to recapture some of the forgotten British sports car’s magic. Re-envisioned by both ADO founder Douglas Anderson (pictured) and kit car mainstay Richard Oakes, the new design differs considerably from the original spec in that it retains the Spriget’s rear-wheel-drive layout and componentry.
While there’s no information on pricing as of yet, the Coupé is set to begin production in Dundee imminently.
