Ford Fiesta ST goes underground. When you hear the phrase ‘Europe’s greatest driving roads’, what springs to mind? The Stelvio Pass? The Col de Turini? How about a salt mine 400 metres underground…?
Ford have been putting together a video series documenting the continent’s greatest roads for keen drivers, and have taken the brilliantly unusual move of putting a new Fiesta ST way, way beneath the surface of the Earth with WRC hotshot Elfyn Evans at the wheel. “The salt is actually like fine gravel to drive on, quite slippery to be honest, especially on road tyres,” said Evans. “You expect it to be claustrophobic but actually it’s quite the opposite, a great place to really enjoy the new Fiesta ST.” The sound of the exhaust resonating through the 60km tunnel network is really quite something too.
