Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched a special edition of the shortwheelbase T6 Caravelle people carrier, featuring design touches which pay tribute to its iconic roots. The Caravelle Generation Six special edition comes with a bespoke Cherry red and Candy white exterior colour scheme inspired by the two-tone paint finishes from Volkswagen’s iconic T1 and T2 Camper vans of the 1960s.
It also has special edition 18-inch ‘DISC’ alloy wheels as standard, along with LED headlights and tail lights, front fog lights with cornering function, chrome detailing around the grille, folding and electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, privacy glass in all rear windows and ‘Generation Six’ badging on the B-pillar.
Inside, the heated front seats are trimmed in exclusive Alcantara and leather, with textile floor mats in Moonrock and Titanium black. The leather-trimmed multi-function steering wheel gives access to many of the vehicle’s convenience and safety features, including the standard Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) including Front Assist, and the new Discover Media infotainment / navigation system which also has DAB and Bluetooth as standard. It also has 3-zone Climatronic air-conditioning as standard The Generation Six also features a step illumination with ‘Generation Six’ lettering, decorative trim in ‘Dark silver brushed’ and a decorative insert across the dashboard to match the two-tone exterior.
The Generation Six is available with a choice of two power outputs, 150 PS and 204 PS, both using the new EU6 2.0-litre TDI engine, in conjunction with a 7-speed DSG transmission. It also comes with a range of technology features as standard, including Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), Side Scan for monitoring the rear three-quarter blind spot, front and rear parking sensors, Automatic Post-Collision Braking and AppConnect, for access to the apps from your phone on the touchscreen in the Caravelle.
Available to order now in Volkswagen Van Centres and costing £52,051 for the 150 PS 2.0 TDI and £54,547 for the 204 PS 2.0 TDI (both prices are RRP OTR incl. VAT) the first vehicles will start to arrive in the UK this month.
