- Record price for #Citroen-DS / #Citroen
The #Citroen-D-Super 5 sold for £63,840 / #H&H may only have sold 40 of the 71 cars on offer at its Chateau Impney sale on July 11, but good prices were achieved. The Citroën D Super 5 featured in our Temptations section last month set what we believe to be an auction record price for a DS saloon. The £63,840 paid for this car, which has won more than 200 trophies in the last 28 years, was within the estimate, but it still sets a new milestone for the model.
To put it in context, a nice #Citroen-DS23-EFi-Pallas ( #Citroen-DS23-Pallas-IE ) – the Holy Grail of Citroëns – that was later in the same sale only made £20,160. Also of note was a barn-find Riley 12/6 Kestrel, complete and running but in need of plenty of work. The pre-sale estimate of £14k-£18k was always a pessimistic, but the £26,230 paid really was an unexpected win for H&H.
Bargains were in short supply, apart from a Fiat 500 L that had been bodily restored four years ago and given a recent engine rebuild. That alone must account for the £5k paid, which was £3k below estimate. We’re surprised the seller let it go for so little.
