    Peugeot will change everything! #EMP2 / #PSA-EMP2 / #Peugeot-EMP2 / #Peugeot-508 / #2018-Peugeot-508 / #2018 /

For the new 508, inspired by the "proto" Exalt and the SUV 3008, the key word will be elegance. Its five-door coupe should not disturb the habitability of the model. Thanks to an increase in the wheelbase, passengers will be comfortable.

    ILLUSTRATION: R.DEMARETS

Peugeot has postponed until 2018 the renewal of its #Peugeot-508 , originally planned this year. The manufacturer will take the opportunity to review its design and graft it a hybrid engine.

To replace its 508, which should pull back in mid-2018, the Lion will put the means. Instead of demodifying the current generation, the constructor will start from a blank page. For the design of this car, it will draw inspiration from the lines of the conceptcar Exalt of 2014 and the new SUV 3008.

Result, the 508 will display a lot of character and a fake five-door coupe profile. In detail, and according to confidential information, the vertical grille will be prolonged on each side by projectors with a very worked design, the prominent air intakes of the shield will reinforce the aggressiveness of the model.

The high sides will be hollowed out and contrasted with marked "shoulders", highlighted by large wheel arches that can accommodate 19 ". Other details of style will reinforce the originality of the model, such as the long ribbed hood and the chrome rim surrounding the lateral glazing, which will form like a spear point at the front. The stern of the vehicle will not be outdone: a long black headband will connect the lights and the false exhaust exhaust in the bottom of the shield ... Everything has been planned to make this car a stylistic success. This will go hand in hand with high-level technology.

New under the hood After the 308, 3008 and 5008, the EMP2 platform will be used for this 508. This technical element will be reworked to match the large Peugeot sedan. On the menu, a weight reduction on the order of 150 kg compared to the current opus, as well as the possibility of installing a rechargeable hybrid engine with gasoline and electric blocks (see box).

If the next 508 is scheduled for 2018, the plug-in hybrid variant will not arrive until 2019. For the rest, Peugeot will trust PureTech gasoline blocks and the BlueHDi 1.5 (new engine) and 2.0. The car will also fill up on electronic aids, and it could adopt a semi-autonomous driving device in the caps. Replacing the #i-Cockpit of the 3008, it will count on the futuristic presentation of its dashboard to stand out from its rivals.

The example to follow VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT

On many points, the VW Passat is a reference in the category. For the presentation, the finishing, the habitability, the Peugeot 508 will inspire, while maintaining a more attractive rate to better stand out from the German.

    In short facts

    ■ PRESENTATION: Geneva 2018
    ■ LAUNCH: June 2018
    ■ PETROL ENGINES: from 130 to 205bhp
    ■ DIESEL ENGINES: from 110 to 280bhp
    ■ HYBRID MOTORIZATION: 290bhp
    ■ LENGTH: about 4.80 meters
    ■ PRICE: starting from 30,000€ EU / UK

The roof leaking, the "shoulders" wide, the 508 will also have a lot of "dog" seen from the back. More trunk trunk, but a tailgate for this car which should also decline in break.

    High-tech is gaining ground

With its i-Cockpit, the SUV 3008 marks the spirits. This interior has required such an investment that the brand will also decline on the 508. This will be accompanied by a high-tech endowment upgraded, such as an additional screen for the passenger, Internet while driving ... Similarly, Peugeot works On semi-autonomous driving, which could make its appearance on this sedan. This would allow the car to get away almost alone in the corks. In addition, like the 3008 that will inaugurate it in 2019, the 508 will have its own hybrid engine. If the SUV will combine a thermal engine with two electric blocks (one at the front and one at the rear), the 508 will be simpler, with a single electric block at the front. Hybrid rechargeable, the 508 can ride 50 km in all electric and develop up to 230 cumulative power.

The i-Cockpit of the 3008 (photo) would be included in the 508. The design of the dashboard could be modified, however the digital meters, the flatwheel and the screen will remain.

➤ Future rivals of the 508

In the category of the family, it is the Talisman who initiated the renewal among the French. Appearing in 2016 (in sedan and station wagons), Renault's flagship has proved all the know-how of the brand in terms of driving behavior through its agility. The future Peugeot 508 will have to face up to it, but also against the next Citroën C5, which will mix profiles of sedan and break. However, they will not be the only rivals of the future 508: it will also have to fight against the Volkswagen Passat, Skoda Superb, Ford Mondeo, and the new

    Upwardly mobile

At the same time as revealing the latest 3008, Peugeot announced that it has teamed up with Micro to design the e-Kick, an electrically assisted scooter that can be used in urban environments. On sale from the end of this year, a lithium-ion battery is packaged into the ultra-thin platform, while the motor is integrated directly into the rear wheel. It has a maximum speed of 15mph and features a footbrake that harnesses the energy via a brake regeneration system that can recharge the battery. The handle bar system has been styled and created by the Peugeot Design Lab and can be folded up in a few seconds, allowing the scooter to be rolled along easily on its front wheel. A charging port is installed in the rear of the 3008 and charges the scooter while on the move. Alternatively, it can be plugged into a conventional socket, and is recharged in around an hour.

    PRETTIER 3008 REVEALED BY PEUGEOT / #Peugeot-EAT6 / #Peugeot / #2016 / #2017 / #Peugeot-3008 / #Peugeot-i-Cockpit /

Peugeot is set to storm the #SUV market next year with its latest 3008, squarely taking on models like the Nissan Qashqai, Kia Sportage and Ford Kuga. It makes its public debut at the Paris motor show in September, before going on sale in November, and arriving in showrooms in January 2017.

At 4,450 millimetres long, 85 millimetres longer than its predecessor, the latest car has a more spacious cabin, especially for rear seat passengers which gain an extra 24 millimetres of legroom and 36 millimetres more headroom. Luggage space in the upright position has been improved by 90 litres, taking the new car up to 520 litres, with a maximum of 1,580 litres with all chairs folded down, marginally smaller by 24 litres compared to its predecessor. Gesture control for the rear tailgate is available for the first time, together with electric assistance. The folding rear bench seat folds down totally flat, and when used in conjunction with the front folding passenger chair, loads of three metres can be accommodated inside the car.

We reported on Peugeot’s new #i-Cockpit design in last month’s issue and now we see it installed in a production car. The digital instruments are a radical departure from the 3008’s predecessor, leapfrogging the opposition in the process. The interactive design allows you to tailor the display to your own preferences, and marries up with the touchscreen mounted on the centre console that operates the audio, navigation and infotainment system. #MirrorScreen , #Android-Auto and #Apple-CarPlay are all offered for the first time for smartphone users, while the 3D navigation system features TomTom traffic to give realtime alternatives to congested routes.

Inductive charging for smartphones also makes its debut, and Peugeot has teamed up with French audio specialists Focal to deliver a premium 10-speaker system, with 515 watts of power and a 12-channel amplifier. Borrowing an idea from sister firm Citroën, the new 3008 comes fitted with a fragrance diffuser, with the choice of three different aromas, all adjustable in a trio of intensities.

The new 3008 will be offered with the latest safety equipment including autonomous emergency braking, a lane keeping assistant and driver drowsiness detection. Road sign recognition is also available, along with adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, an automated parking system and the choice of either a 180 or 360 degree camera system, that makes parking in tight spaces more manageable.

More than 100 kilograms have been shaved off the weight of the latest car, which means that the new 3008 is more efficient than its predecessor. A range of selective catalyst reduction-equipped BlueHDi engines power the car, with outputs from 98 to 178bhp on offer. CO2 emissions are as low as 100g/km on diesel editions, with 74.3mpg possible on the combined economy cycle in optimum conditions. #BlueHDi 100, 120 and 150 models will be offered with a manual transmission, while BlueHDi 120 and 180 versions are combined with Peugeot’s EAT6 six-speed automatic gearbox. Like other models in the Peugeot line-up, the new 3008 is expected to be offered in Access, Active and Allure trim levels, with GT Line editions set to be announced at a later date. All versions come with front-wheel-drive, with Grip Control offered on more upmarket editions.

    508 FUTURE #2017 next generation

Peugeot reply to the Renault Talisman Returning to their account stunning lines of concept car Exalt, the future 508 will display a dynamic look and a coupe profile five-door look great. Auto Plus reveals, two years before its presentation at the next Frankfurt Motor Show, style and secrets of this great family.

At #Peugeot , a small revolution is under way. The direction of the brand chaired by Carlos Tavares decided that by 2022, there would be more than thirteen models in the range (against seventeen now). One notes already the disappearance of 807 and 308 CC, while the RCZ coupe will retire at year end. Peugeot justifies these decisions by streamlining excessive, to limit the costs development. More maximum fans manufacturer rest assured, there will always be reasons to rejoice. Especially in high-end, with 508 "2", scheduled for late 2017.

    Sedan coupe trend

2017 #Peugeot-508 between the current and the next version, the changes will be radical. In terms of style, first. Family barters his Peugeot sedan traditional clothes for those of a stylish '' cut '' five doors. Although with the Exalt prototype Peugeot has clearly shown the way for its designers to make the 508, one of the most beautiful family market ... Our illustrations also give a good idea of what will be the future spearhead of the brand. A stretched silhouette, elegantly proportioned (profile, because cattiness 2/3 to 1/3 glass surface), projectors and lights mimicking claws, large air intakes highlighted by a bar of LEDs, the wide shoulders down to the car on the road, a roof overhead plunging backwards ... All help to give a dynamic signature style, without upsetting some practical aspects that are expected of a family, such as habitability. Therefore, besides a long wheelbase (over 2,80 long), the 508 will adopt thinner than the current seats in order to free some additional centimeters for rear passengers legs. It will also have a tailgate for easy loading of the trunk.

    Army to win

The 508, which also exist in estate version, modular platform #Peugeot-EMP2 resume that is already the heyday of 308. Dynamic and comfortable, it allows a perfect combination with different body types and templates automaker. Proof with the 508, which will claim at least 4.80 m long. Under the hood, you will find an offer deodorization rich enough, albeit limited in capacity over German rival, Peugeot preferring to focus on limiting consumption and CO2 emissions. Thus, in essence, alongside 1.6 PureTech, we will find the modest three-cylinder 1.2 PureTech (130bhp anyway). Diesel, an original block, the 1.5 HDi, will appear to ensure the entry level. The BlueHDi 2.0 150bhp and 180 will complete the offer. All blocks will be associated with a manual six-speed transmission, but most will also be available with automatic gearbox performance. EAT (which could eventually have eight reports). A rechargeable hybrid version (gasoline + electric engine block on the rear wheels) is in the cards, but only arrive late 2018. Finally, so that the car provides good performances while limiting its consumption, the engineers will provide a big work on relief and aerodynamics. The use of lightweight materials (aluminum for certain body parts) go hand in hand with technology solutions proven by the 308, such as controlled air inlets can be closed depending on the speed.

    A screen for the passenger

Peugeot also will modify the interior of the 508 so that it falls within the tradition of that of the 308. The flywheel will see its small size and should be flattened at the top to facilitate the reading of the instruments, all under a top of the instrument panel visor. This will display a sleek design and the central touchscreen host a new ergonomic interface, which will bring together the main controls of the car. Innovation: the passenger could, too, benefit from a screen to manage multimedia, GPS, etc. Leo indeed wants to make his 508 self ultra connected, armed to compete, in terms of high-tech equipment, with the German competition.

Peugeot will look after the comfort of its occupants with a spacious interior. To facilitate the loading of the boot, the 508 will trade his trunk lid for a tailgate, more convenient.

    The inspiration: PEUGEOT EXALT

Introduced in 2014, the Exalt prototype was remembered for her sportsmanship debt profile and sharp lines. We thought it would create a cut of 4.65 m long. If the project has the lead in the wing, nothing will be lost however, as the future 508 will have much to him.

For his family, Peugeot dares to change! The manufacturer will start from scratch and give him the look of a five-door coupe, more dynamic than the profile of a "simple" sedan.
