David Kennedy Badly Dubbed. Another month, another fully-loaded copy of Performance VW delivered to your door, screen or, if you’re a bit old-school then your local newsagent stand. It’s been a particularly busy few weeks for us at Drive-MY for a number of reasons, not only due to the amount of shows we’ve had to cram in, but also due to the shorter deadlines we’ve incurred. Why? Well, basically so we can squeeze in next month’s Show Special edition. Yes, those that subscribe to Drive-MY for the year actually get 13 issues for the price of 12. I know, we’re good to you. It’s actually the third year we’ve produced this extra issue and it’s proven to be a huge success. How do we do it? Well we just have to pull our socks up and work a little harder. Why do we do it? Trust me, Dave and I have been asking ourselves that for the past 36 months (we love it really ~ Dave). It’s all for the love of the Veedub, or something…
Don’t worry though, if you don’t subscribe then you can still pick up the Show Special in stores or online (at our new website: www.performancevwmag.com), but in this day and age you’ve got to be bonkers not to sign up for a subscription. Not only do subscribers have it easy with the magazine literally dropping through their letterbox (or into their inbox) rather than having to scout around to find a newsagent that stocks it, but better still, they get the magazine a few days early, too. Sometimes, even before we see it here at the Drive-MY (don’t ask us how). It works out cheaper in the long run, too.
Either way, it seems like a bit of a no-brainer to us, especially as the content of the magazine has never been stronger. Well, according to you guys anyway. We bitch and moan about all the shows we have to attend but the reality of attending events like the recent Edition 38 (full report and in-depth E38 crew profile coming next month) is that we get to spend some invaluable time chatting with you guys; not texting, not DM’ing or emailing, but actually getting to talk face-toface. I know, how weird. All joking aside, it’s so nice to hear that more of you than ever have signed up to support us by way of subscribing. Print media has certainly taken a bit of a bashing over the last few years, with some of the less polished titles falling by the wayside, but with your support we’ve ridden the wave and emerged stronger than ever.
It’s great to even see some new publications being launched too. Yes, printed on paper as well. Okay, the whole print/digital debate is certainly one for another day, but while not so long ago a number of people went on record claiming print was dead, we think it’s safe to say there will always be a place for it in some shape or form.
