BMW’s new sporting sensation 2019 BMW M850i xDrive G15

BMW’s new sporting sensation BMW claims that the new 8 Series Coupé represents the start of a new chapter in its long and illustrious history of making iconic and sensational sports cars. With outstanding performance, emotion-stirring design, state-of-the-art luxury and advanced equipment technology, the stylish new 8 Series is regarded as one of BMW’s most exciting new models to emerge in recent years.

The car – being launched in November 2018 – will be built at BMW’s Dingolfing plant, and the number ‘8′ in the model name denotes the model’s high-ranking status within BMW’s product range.

The primary development objective for the new car was centred on driving dynamics. Body, powertrain and suspension were consistently honed to achieve the best agility, precision and poise. Designers worked hard to combine powerful engines with the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system and BMW Efficient-Lightweight design measures.

The car will be launched with two engine options. The 2019 BMW M850i xDrive G15 will be the flagship model, costing £100,045, and will be powered by a 4.4-litre, 530hp, V8 twin-turbocharged petrol engine. Developing a whopping 750Nm of torque, this motor will be able to accelerate the car to 62mph in just 3.7 seconds.

The second option will be the 2019 BMW 840d xDrive Coupé G15, costing £76,270, and based around a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine generating 320hp and a thumping 680Nm of torque. This version will hit 62mph in 4.9 seconds, and both cars will be limited to a top speed of 155mph.

Externally, an almost fully sealed underbody, active air flap control with adjustable kidney grille slats and Air Curtains including Air Breathers, help to reduce aerodynamic drag. Narrow exterior mirror bases are mounted directly on the side window weather strips to further enhance the airflow. This is the first time these have featured on a BMW with frameless side windows.

Inside, a raft of high-tech features includes the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, which combines a new display and control concept and maximum connectivity into a superb all-round package. The latest-generation display and control concept consists of a high-resolution instrument cluster behind the steering wheel with a screen diagonal of 12.3in, plus a 10.25in Control Display.

BMW is expecting great things from the new 8 Series. The 8 Series’ interior will be a lavish place to be… … and the latest-generation, 12.3in, high-resolution instrument cluster looks stunning.
