The first product from Mercedes-Benz’s all-electric division is out. Dubbed the EQC, the new SUV is Mercedes’s first purely electric vehicle,. The EQC will make its market debut in 2019. Unlike its conventional internal- combustion-engine-powered siblings, the EQC is based on an all-new scalable platform that’s specifically developed for Mercedes’s all-electric EQ range of vehicles. Having said that, the platform also shares some elements from Mercedes’s MRA platform, and as a result, the EQC shares a few similarities with the GLC like the wheelbase.

Mercedes reveals all-electric SUV. Mercedes-Benz has pulled the wraps of its first full electric car – a large SUV that will target Tesla’s Model X and the Jaguar i-PACE.
Mercedes Benz recently unveiled its first all-electric car and it’s an SUV. It goes by the name EQC 400 4Matic.
Mercedes-Benz has revealed pricing for its new EQC 4MATIC range of all-electric performance SUVs. Prices start at £65,640 OTR for the entry-level EQC 400 4MATIC Sport. Standard equipment includes heated front seats with electrically-adjustable lumbar support; keyless entry, LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen media display. AMG Line models span three versions - AMG Line, AMG Line Premium and AMG Line Premium Plus - from £67,635 to £74,530, and £74,40 Edition 1 EQCs build on the Sport spec but add an electric sliding roof and a Burmester surround sound system. The £79,260 limited Edition 1886 features a head-up display, as well as driving and parking packages.
Joining the Audi e-tron, Jaguar I-Pace and Tesla Model X, the Mercedes-Benz EQC is yet another high-end luxury performance electric SUV and the first of the Mercedes-Benz EQ models.
The EQC will be the first Mercedes-Benz all-electric production model. But although its powertrain and technology might be new, designers had to ensure it retained the spirit of the brand. Words: Kyle Fortune.
