Set to become the crowning model in this prestige performance carmaker’s line-up, the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera will, according to the firm, offer the best of both GT and supercar worlds. Built on the DB11’s lightweight aluminium architecture, along with its forged double-wishbone front and multilink rear suspension, the DBS mounts a 5,2-litre biturbo V12 engine that sends drive aft via an eight-speed ZF auto ‘box. Delivering 533 kW and 900 N.m, the Superleggera is good for 0-100 km/h in 3,4 seconds and a 340 km/h (limited) top speed.

Alessandro Zanardi, the Italian racing driver who, following a horrific accident in 2001, lost both his legs is, as we write this, all set to make a guest DTM start at Misano, in Italy, driving a BMW M4 F82 DTM. This event will represent the latest high point in Zanardi's incredibly determined return to motorsport. A two-day test session in Vallelunga, Italy, saw the ex-F1 and American CART series driver complete an impressive 294 laps at the wheel of his specially modified M4 F82.
Fine particle air pollution limits have been met or exceeded in more than 40 UK towns and cities, with Port Talbot the worst, and cities including Manchester and Leeds appearing in the bottom 10. Research by the World Health Organisation (WHO) found 18 micrograms per cubic metre in the Welsh steelworking town of Port Talbot – almost double the 10 microgram limit. With a population of over 2.5 million, Manchester’s air was 3 micrograms over, while Leeds, Liverpool and Sheffield all registered 12 micrograms.

Miura SVR Reborn… Lamborghini has restored one of the most famous Miuras ever built: the SVR. This was the race car evolution of the Miura Jota, which was lost in an accident, following which Lamborghini built a single Miura SVR to replicate its specification.
Mercedes have dominated the world of Formula 1 since the introduction of V6 turbo engines to the sport in 2014, and there’s no sign yet of them relinquishing their crown. Unveiled at Silverstone in February, the new W09 EQ Power+ looks ready to carry the team to their fifth winning year in a row. Race drivers Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas have both been enthusiastic about the new car’s capabilities, and initial test drives in Barcelona earlier this year showed promise.
Mixed emotions at Le Mans. There were mixed emotions for BMW M Motorsport after its return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in June. The pair of BMW M8 GTEs were able to match the pace of the GTE Pro leaders during the 86th running of this endurance classic, with both cars sitting in the top-three for long stretches of the race.

Range Rover Sport gets plug-in power. Badged P400e, the new Range Rover Sport PHEV combines a 300hp 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine with an 85kW electric motor. The resulting 404hp total available power, 640Nm of combined torque and four-wheel drive system is enough to deliver 0-62mph in 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 137mph.
