2021 Lotus Evija nears production

Following on from news in the last issue of the Evija’s leap into heavy development testing, Lotus has confirmed that Hethel is now going through considerable changes so that it can begin production of the anticipated 2000bhp-plus electric hypercar this summer.

The result of the work is a new dedicated production hall, situated alongside the Hethel test track, that will be used to produce all 130 examples of the new halo model.

Lotus CEO Phil Popham – who recently unveiled the new line to more than 1400 Lotus employees through a series of staff briefings – had this to say: “This is now the newest car production facility in the world, and to witness it move from the drawing board to reality has been deeply satisfying. It’s testament to the commitment of all involved, and is the perfect sleek and hightech production home for the Evija at our iconic Hethel headquarters.”
