Paul Walker BMW collection sale

Two BMW E30 M3s and five BMW E36 M3 Lightweights belonging to Fast and Furious actor Paul Walker sold at auction recently…

One of the highlights of the recent Barrett-Jackson’s 49th Annual Scottdale Auction was a consignment of vehicles belonging to the late Hollywood actor Paul Walker. Made famous by the Fast and Furious franchise, Walker owned an impressive collection of personal vehicles, including a number of rare BMWs. No fewer than seven BMW M3s were amongst the sale lots, comprising two E30 M3s and five 1995 E36 M3 Lightweights – only 125 of these were ever produced by BMW.

The BMW E36 M3 Lightweight is a lighter, track-oriented, version of the revered BMW E36 M3, powered by the 240hp S50 3.0-litre straight-six engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Nearly all featured a more aggressive rear wing and front spoiler, along with Alpine White paint and a BMW Motorsport checkered flag livery. Though not limited to such vehicles, Walker’s 19 car collection – all offered at the Barrett-Jacksons auction – demonstrated that he clearly had a penchant for German performance cars, the consignment brought in $2,279,750 in total sales.

Of the two BMW E30 M3s the 1988 example made $165,000, the 1991 car $220,000. Having covered 34,400-miles Lot number 1373.1 showed the highest mileage of the five E36 M3s – it made $220,000.00, so too Lot 1372, a 15,485-mile car. Next in the pecking order came Lot number 1372.1, the 14,283-mile M3 reaching $242,000 before the gavel fell, the 42,514- mile Lot number 1373 achieving $258,500. However, somewhat predictably it was the lowest mileage car of the bunch, Lot number 1371, the 4,600-mile E36 M3 Lightweight that was most sought-after with bidding reaching $385,000 (approximately £298,000).

Proceeds from the sale are said to be going to the benefit of Walker’s daughter, Meadow.
