Histories Auction at Brooklands – 2014

Histories Auction at Brooklands - 2014

Histories hit the mark again. Histories Auction at Brooklands held on March 8 turned out some fine American cars again, with some great results. A warm sunny day providing a welcoming backdrop to the largest attendance to date, and an immensely buoyant £1.77 million-plus result, made it Historics’ biggest spring sale to date.

Furthermore, of the 110 consigned motor cars, a record 79% found delighted new owners! Star turn in terms of entertainment value had to be this 1962 Cadillac, which will be recognised by many as the car featured in Wheeler Dealer Mike Brewer’s last foray into the American car market.

At No Reserve, it was pitched initially by the auctineer at a modest £600. The bidding took off like a rocket and after a very entertaining five minutes or so, with bids bouncing around the hall and online and telephone like a tennis ball, it Anally settled all up at £13,200 to a huge round of applause. There was lots of great light-hearted banter as a couple slugged it out towards the end. The ultimate winner was Russell Schacter 07973 307928 who says he’s starting a wedding company.

Let’s just hope any future brides like green eh! Top of the money for US cars was an unusual right-hand drive jet black Mustang which went for £28,000 and had attracted a lot of interest and viewings pre-sale. A pint-sized 1942 Jeep made a respectable £14,336, while a very nice clean Mustang Notchback took £11,000. And if it was a Cobra you were after, then this nice 1991 Dax Cobra 427 changed hands for £20,000!
