Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched a special edition of the shortwheelbase T6 Caravelle people carrier, featuring design touches which pay tribute to its iconic roots. The Caravelle Generation Six special edition comes with a bespoke Cherry red and Candy white exterior colour scheme inspired by the two-tone paint finishes from Volkswagen’s iconic T1 and T2 Camper vans of the 1960s.

2019 Skoda Karoq Scout and Sportline broaden SUV range… The Skoda Karoq Scout has been revealed, boasting tougher looks and off-road equipment including standard four-wheel drive. It will join the Octavia and Kodiaq Scout, which both get similar features and a rough terrain package to ensure they can head competently offroad. If you’d rather stick to tarmac, it has been joined by the Karoq SportLine with a racier appearance.
New high-powered 2019 VW Amarok. Launched in December 2016, the Amarok – the current holder of the International Pick-up of the Year title – is the only pick-up to be offered exclusively with a high-powered 3.0-litre V6 TDI engine, previously rated at 224 PS / 550 Nm.

Development of the eagerly awaited Mk8 Golf is so close we can almost smell the hybrid motors (and combustion ones). The new Golf is set to premiere this Autumn, going on sale in the UK in 2020 with Volkswagen promising it will be the most 'digitally connected' Golf to date.
Paying three grand for a car that cost £13k almost twenty years ago may not seem like a depreciation bargain, but these things are all relative. If you look at how the values of quality early- 2000s performance VWs are climbing, grabbing hold of a Lupo GTI makes a lot of sense – particularly given how there aren’t all that many of them left. As far as we can make out, there’s about 500 of them registered in the UK, which really isn’t a lot; only 950 of them were ever sold here, although they do still pop up regularly in the classifieds. It’s a cracker of a car too – the revvy nat-asp 1.6 puts out 123bhp, and the car’s so light that it really does feel like a Mk1 Golf GTI. Part of the low weight is thanks to GTI-specific aluminium body panels, and it also has disc brakes all round, lowered suspension, sporty seats, an aggressive little bodykit, and – most importantly of all – a centre-exit exhaust. Because everything’s cooler with a centre-exit. At three grand or so, this is probably the cheapest the Lupo GTI will ever be before they start getting properly collectible…

Volkswagen’s upcoming all-electric hatchback, now officially named the ID 3, received more than 10,000 pre-orders in 24 hours. The first production car to launch using the VW Group’s new MEB electric architecture, the Golf-sized ID 3 will be offered with three battery sizes from launch in 2020, giving WLTP-certified ranges of 205, 261 and 342 miles. VW says the entry-level model will cost less than €30,000 (£25,500) in Germany.

The All-New 2019 Volkswagen Touareg range now comes with a 231 PS version of the 3.0-litre V6 TDI engine, in addition to the 286 PS 3.0 V6 TDI unit that it was launched with in June. The 231 PS version delivers maximum power from 3250 rpm to 4750 rpm, and with peak torque of 500 Nm from 1750 rpm to 3000 rpm, along with the same CO figure (173 g/ km) and the same towing capacity (3500 kg) as the 286 PS unit.

In the time it’s taken most owners of these new cars to figure out how to stop the sat nav doing that annoying bleeping thing and got the seat set just right, Abt have already released a software package and wheel set for it.
