Delivering the Goods

Delivering the Goods

‘Unprecedented’ is a strong word banded about with startling regularity. It’s commonly used by journalists to elicit extreme reactions from their audiences when, in truth, the series of events being referenced can usually draw parallels with another. The current global public health crisis caused by the outbreak of COVID-19, however, really is unprecedented, affecting each and every one of us in a number of different ways, no matter who we are, where we live or what we do for a living. My hope is that you, our loyal readers, remain free from harm and that, before long, we’ll be exchanging stories at rescheduled Porsche meets about our experiences of self-isolation or town-wide lockdown.

Porsche 911 992 vs… Mazda MX-5?

Although I’ve touched upon this subject before, I think it bears reapeating: how great is the MX-5 at punching above its weight? Or perhaps it’s good at punching because of its weight, or lack thereof.

Do Cabriolet and Targa prices tail off in winter?

Do Cabriolet and Targa prices tail off in winter?

We’re back to myth-busting again this issue as we address another oft-muttered assumption within our Porsche marketplace: that prices of Cabriolets and Targas change according to the season. So can their values really spike in spring and fall in autumn, for want of a better phrase?

Sales debate - is the Porsche 911 993 undervalued?

Sales debate - is the Porsche 911 993 undervalued?

Ah, the trusty 993. The last air-cooled generation of 911, the last hand-built 911 and, as values have never dipped into the realms of entry-level money, it could be the only classic retaining its factory quality, broadly speaking.

Old rivals, new scores 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S 992 vs. 2019 Audi R8 V10 Type 4S

Blurring the line between sports car and supercar has always been one of the Audi R8’s special talents. Not only did it blow everybody away with its incredible proportions when it was launched in 2006, Audi’s first attempt at a mid-engined two-seater was easily the best-handling car the company had ever produced. The high-revving 414bhp V8 was an absolute gem and you could even get an open-gated six-speed manual transmission. It’s easy to forget that the R8 was pitched as a rival to a fairly run-of-the-mill Porsche 911.
