Renowned German tuners ABT have turned their attention to the Audi A4 saloon and Avant, upping power for diesel models and offering exterior modifications to make them look faster, too. If you think the latest A4 looks a little too understated, the upgrades could certainly help it stand out, and upgrades to the 3.0-litre TDI version can liberate more torque than an R8 supercar.
ABT A4 TDI GETS MORE TORQUE THAN AN R8
Customers can choose from an aerodynamic body kit, with side skirts and a larger rear spoiler, along with a quad exhaust system nestled in the rear bumper. There are also optional air vents for the front wheel arches, and a set of ABT performance coilovers give the A4 a lower stance that “combine maximum comfort and utmost precision”. Optional alloy wheels measure either 19- or 20-inches in size, with ABT recommending its CR and DR designs for the Autobahn botherer.
Engine tuning liberates up to 212bhp from the 2.0-litre TDI engine, along with 325lb ft of torque. For more punch, ABT will also fettle the six-cylinder 3.0-litre TDI unit, resulting in outputs of 321bhp and a meaty 487lb ft – figures that are 52bhp and 44lb ft above those quoted by Audi for its range-topping V6 TDI. That should provide eye-popping slip-road acceleration.
