Fans have been given an early glimpse of the next Mitsubishi L200 pickup, ahead of its full reveal in early November. The Series 6 L200 will be the latest in a long line of L200s, the rugged model that’s been in production since 1978, finding 4.7 million customers.
2019 MITSUBISHI L200 PICKUP TEASED
Based on feedback from L200 owners, Mitsubishi says the next L200 “has enhanced performance, functionality, durability, safety and refinement”. It faces the toughest competition in four decades, though, because along with stalwarts like the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Isuzu D-Max and Nissan Navara, customers also have relative newcomers like the Fiat Fullback, SsangYong Musso and Mercedes-Benz X-Class to choose from.
Despite the L200 being masked by a cloud of dust, the teaser does reveal a sleek new grille that’s more swept back and car-like than its predecessor, as well as most of its rivals. It flows into slim headlights with new LED daytime running lights. Shown in the popular double cab bodystyle, a dramatic crease can be seen flowing from the front wing to the load bed.
