BMW just recently revealed the first images of the new G20 3 Series and now it’s showing-off the first model that has got our attention, the new M340i xDrive. First of all, as its name suggests, it’s 4WD and, secondly, the 40i badge means it’s running the B58 single-turbo straight-six and here we’re seeing it in one of its spiciest forms, pushing out a meaty 374hp backed up by 369lb ft of torque.
NEW 2019 BMW M340i XDRIVE G20 REVEALED
That’s a lot of both and it means this 3 Series is seriously fast, with the 0-62mph sprint passing in a scant 4.4 seconds, at which point you start to question if you actually need to go any faster than that. Even more impressive is that it manages that while keeping CO2 emissions to 172g/km with combined fuel economy of 37.7mpg, making this a seriously accomplished car. As standard you get M Sport suspension, variable sports steering, an M Sport differential, the M Sport brake system and 18” M light alloy wheels along with the eight-speed Steptronic sports gearbox, complete with launch control. The M340i gets some seriously aggressive styling, with a mesh grille, rear spoiler and trapezoidal exhaust pipe trims along with exterior mirror caps, air intake struts, the front surfaces of the kidney grille, tailpipe trims and the model lettering all finished in Cerium grey metallic. Expect prices to be released nearer the car’s launch in July 2019.
