BMW UK recently celebrated a significant milestone for the all-electric i3, as the 10,000th‑model has just been sold. Launched in 2013, the i3 has evolved to become the best-selling compact electric vehicle in the premium segment. What’s more, with the recent updates to the i3, and the addition of a new, sportier i3S, success is set to continue.
Thanks to the latest eDrive technology, both the BMW i3 and BMW i3S offer emission-free driving with instantaneous power delivery, efficient use of energy and an increased range. However, this strong market position isn’t restricted to just the UK. BMW i vehicles are now sold in 74 countries around the world, and charging has never been easier with 130,000 ChargeNow accessible charge points available worldwide, with more than 6,000 in the UK.
In addition to its sales success, the BMW i3 has been awarded many accolades since entering the market, further cementing the ground-breaking car’s status. These include Car of the Year in 2014, Best Electric Car of the Year in 2017 and Best Zero Emission Car in 2018.
Graeme Grieve, chief executive officer, BMW UK, commented: “This is an important moment for electric cars in the UK. With this market sector growing at such an astonishing pace, I’m proud that the i3 has played a major role in promoting EV ownership.”
An impressive 10,000 i3s have now been sold in the UK.
